My name is Cynthia. During my quest to become an EMT I discovered that there are many seniors in our community who are still independent but unable to enjoy all life has to offer due to limited mobility or diminished mental capacity. These people begin to feel trapped in their homes due to these limitations and lack of family availability to meet their needs.

 I feel a lot of elderly people could benefit from a person who spends time with them on a regular basis. This allows them to have someone to talk to, interact with and helps them feel less lonely. They need people who are willing to help clean up or organize around the home if needed. To take them to any appointments, take them shopping, pick up their medications, basically take them out to do their chores so they can maintain that independence but be supervised doing so. They also need someone willing to take them out to movies, parks, or any other activities that they enjoy so that they have a regular opportunity to get out of their home and feel alive and a part of their community.
